Active from 2019 to the end of 2024 and based in Geneva, Switzerland, Equestrio Foundation was a private foundation created by Ms. Alicia Heiniger, an entrepreneur passionate about horseback riding, animals, and the environment. Part of the Equestrio Group (EG), the foundation was named after the online magazine Equestrio, of which Ms. Heiniger was the founder and CEO. Innovative in its approach, Equestrio Foundation aimed to financially support and promote human-scale projects and individuals dedicated to environmental preservation and animal protection.
Guided by a strong conviction that every action counts, Equestrio Foundation not only provided financial support to its partners and projects but also helped to highlight the work of these “hidden heroes” by producing powerful images and reports that showcased their stories and remarkable efforts. Driven by the belief that all beings—humans, animals, and the environment—are interconnected, and that our well-being is inherently linked to the health of our planet’s ecosystems and wildlife, Equestrio Foundation has contributed to preserving the fragile balance that sustains our world.
