BAKELITE

When it comes to defending the environmental cause, the fight must be waged on all fronts. And sometimes, stories and images can be our greatest weapons as shown by ON EST PRÊT who has chosen to use art to mobilize the general public against the plastic pollution that is invading our oceans.

Each year, 8 million tons of plastic end up in the seas. This is a threat not only to the survival of marine ecosystems, but also to humans, who are estimated to ingest up to 5 grams of plastic every week, equivalent to the amount of microplastics contained in a credit card.

With the project “BAKELITE”, ON EST PRÊT is tackling this scourge through a dream-like film that embarks us into the heart of an all too blatant reality. Produced in collaboration with Reunionese free-diving record-woman and filmmaker Julie Gautier, and shot in Nice, this ecological tale evokes our paradoxical relationship with plastic in the form of a live underwater dance that turns into a dangerous battle against marine pollution.

To be released soon, the film is being promoted via a global campaign, particularly on social networks, that aims for both a political and institutional impact.

Equestrio Foundation is proud to contribute to the publicity of this creation through the financing of the film’s digital distribution rights. As you know, words and images are also our greatest weapons.
